New Delhi. Even after the implementation of the Waqf Amendment Act, the ruckus is not taking the name of stopping. Several petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court in its favor amid opposition from opposition parties and Muslim organizations against this law. In this episode, on Sunday, Tamil film actor Thalapati Vijay’s party also filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Tamil Nadu Vatri Kazhagam (TVK), the party of Tamil film actor and politician Talpati Vijay, has challenged the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 in the Supreme Court. The petitions filed against this Act are scheduled on 16 April 2025.
However, many applications have been filed in the Supreme Court in support of this Act. Let us tell you that in this case, the Central Government has also filed a cavity petition in the Supreme Court. In the petition, the Center has appealed to the court to hear the arguments of the Central Government before passing any order in this case.

With the issue of Gazette notification in this regard, the name of Waqf Act, 1995 has also been changed to Unified Waqf Management, Employment, Efficiency and Development (Expectation) Act, 1995.

Despite opposition from opposition parties and several Muslim organizations, the Lok Sabha approved it on 3 April and the Rajya Sabha on 4 April. There were 288 votes in the Lok Sabha in support of it and 232 votes in protest, while in the upper house there were 128 votes in its favor and 95 votes in protest.
