According to the information, during scrutiny, the papers of BJP candidates of two wards number 8 and 10 of Amritsar were stopped citing lack of complete information in them. When BJP candidates came to know about this, senior BJP leaders from both the parties reached Amritsar Regional Transport Officer. While after a long debate, the papers of Ward No. 10 BJP candidate Shruti Vij were cleared in scrutiny, but the papers of Ward-8 candidate Kapil Sharma were not cleared.
Former MP Shwet Malik said that the papers were canceled by accusing the candidate Kapil Sharma. He is accused of encroachment on his building. The building that the Municipal Corporation officials are talking about is not in their name but in the name of Promila Sharma.
709 candidates had nominated
A total of 709 candidates had filed nominations for 85 wards in the Amritsar Municipal Corporation elections. Till December 11, only 22 candidates filed their nominations. But on December 12, the last day, 687 candidates arrived to file nominations. Due to heavy crowd on the last day, many candidates could not file their nominations. At the same time, even during Friday scrutiny, papers of many candidates have been cancelled.
Last date for withdrawal of nomination tomorrow
The Scrutiny Committee was given only one day for the Municipal Corporation elections. At the same time, tomorrow Saturday is the last day for withdrawal of names. There will be a wait till 3 pm to withdraw the names. After this, election symbols will be given to independent candidates. Along with this, the candidates will also be informed about the button number of the election symbol, so that all the candidates can campaign.
