Actually, PTA means Pakistan Telecom Authority. PTA mobile phones are those in which user can use SIM card. At the same time, non-PTA phones are those in which users cannot use SIM. It has been told in the video that the iPhone 15 Pro Max was bought for about Rs 2.47 lakh which was a non-PTA phone. At the same time, to approve the PTA of the phone, the government has to pay up to Rs 1.48 lakh more, after which the price of the phone reaches around 4 lakh rupees. At the same time, phones of brands like Samsung, Reality, Oppo, Vivo are also expensive by about 30 to 40 percent of India in Pakistan.
Phones are also expensive for these reasons
- The Pakistani rupee has weakened against the US dollar, which has increased the prices of imported goods.
- In Pakistan, more import duty and taxes are imposed on smartphones which increase their prices.
- Pakistan’s economic condition is unstable, which has negatively affected foreign investment and trade.
- There is a lack of competition in the smartphone market in Pakistan, which gives less options to the user and the prices are high.
