The full name of CC is Carbon Copy. It is used when you want to send the same email to someone other than the main recipient. Suppose you are sending a report to your boss and want any other member of your team to see the same email. In such a situation, you put it in CC.
The main person (name written in to) and whatever people in CC get the same copy of email. Everyone can see who has been sent to whom the email has been sent. This simply means that CC is a transparent copy which all recipients can see.
At the same time, the full name of BCC is Blind Carbon Copy. It may sound like CC, but its work is completely different. If you are sending email to someone and want one or more people to see the copy of that mail, but the rest of the people do not know, then you put them in the BCC.
For example, if you want to send a company to the same mail to many clients, but do not want Client A to see the email address of client B, then you put all of you in the BCC. Every person gets a mail, but no one can see who has been sent to the mail. This means that BCC is a confidential copy.
Many people put everyone in to or CC while sending emails, so that all email addresses come in front of everyone. This is not only against professional athet but also a violation of privacy. Especially when you are sending mail to an office, school or client list, always decide whom to keep in CC and who to keep it in BCC.
In email, both CC and BCC are used to share information and maintain privacy. The only difference is that CC is a transparent copy and BCC is hidden.
