WhatsApp fraud through call forwarding know what are the ways to avoid it

Let me tell you that recently a case came to light with a woman from Bhopal where the thugs hacked her WhatsApp and demanded money from her husband. When her husband got suspicious, she lodged a complaint with the cybercrime branch.

During this time, no calls or messages were coming on the WhatsApp of the woman. Investigation revealed that this fraud call forwarding was done by activating.

The woman received a call from an unknown number, in which the caller described himself as a delivery boy and asked to dial a number. The woman called the number without thinking, which was starting with “*#”. This was the code to activate the call forwarding.

After this, Scammer registered WhatsApp on the woman’s number and accessed OTP through call forwarding. Scammer sent a message to the woman’s family and friends demanding money.

Now let us tell you how you can avoid these frauds. For this, you have to take care of some things. Never follow the instructions given on the call from the unknown number. If someone asks you to call the number starting with “*#”, do not do so.

On WhatsApp, turn on two-factor authentication (2fa), so that no one can login without your permission. Do not click on suspicious links or fishing messages, they can install malware on your phone.
