According to the official statement, the Department of Telecommunications has partnered with WhatsApp. Under this, the scope of Meta’s security initial ‘Stay Safe from Scams’ will be increased. This will help prevent cybercrime. Under this partnership, WhatsApp will take data from the government’s digital intelligence platform. This platform shares real-time intelligence with 550 shareholders including banks and government agencies. With its help, the misuse of telecom resources can be easily detected.

Incidents of cybercrime have increased in India for some time. Along with this data theft, economic losses are also being incurred. Cyber criminals are also resorting to scams like digital arrest, where they are making money from people through WhatsApp audio and video calls.
