Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 vs Vivo X Fold 5: In the foldable smartphone segment in the year 2025, Samsung and Vivo again made a strong comeback in the market. Samsung has come up with its Galaxy Z Fold 7 which claims to give a premium user experience with great design, latest processor and long software support. At the same time, Vivo has introduced X Fold 5 which has special features like big battery, fast charging and powerful camera setup. If you are planning to buy one of these two foldables, then it will make it easier for you to take a decision.
Difference in design
Talking about design and build quality, both phones give premium feel. The Galaxy Z fold 7 is slightly more slim. Its thickness is 8.9mm when folded and 4.2mm when unfolded. On the other hand, Vivo X Fold 5 is slightly thick, 9.2mm on the fold and 4.3mm on the unfolded. However, this difference is not felt in everyday use. Samsung is also slightly lighter in weight, with 215 grams while Vivo weighs 217 grams. Talking about security, Samsung has used Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Armor Glass as well as IP48 ratings. Vivo has rated its second generation Armor Glass and IP59 which gives better protection than dust. Talking about colors, Samsung gives you four options while Vivo comes only in Titanium Gray variants.
Difference in display
In the case of display, both have a high-quality AMOLED panel which supports the 120Hz refresh rate. Vivo has an 8.03 -inch inner display with a resolution of 2200×2480 pixels and brightness to 4500 nits. The 8 -inch display of Samsung gives a slightly lower resolution (1968×2184) and 2600 nits peak brightness. In the outside screen, both are almost equal but the 6.5 -inch cover screen of Vivo is slightly more sharp and bright. However, this difference between the two in real life does not seem very big.
Performance
Talking about the performance, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 gets power from the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset which is more powerful. Vivo X Fold 5 has Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 which is also fantastic but is slightly behind the Elite version. Samsung is also ahead in storage, where users get RAM up to 16GB and storage up to 1TB. Vivo is available only in 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variants.
Software
Samsung gets a big lead on the software front. The Galaxy Z fold 7 runs on Android 16 based Oneui 8 and the company promises software updates for seven years. At the same time, Vivo’s X Fold 5 comes with Android 15 based Funtouch OS 15 in which updates will be given for four years. Apart from this, Oneui also includes more advance AI features that give better experience than Vivo.
What is the difference in the battery
Talking about battery and charging speed, Vivo wins here. The X Fold 5 has a large 6,000mAh battery that supports 80W wired and 40W wireless charging. The battery of Samsung is 4,400mAh and the charging speed is also limited to only 25W (wired) and 15W (wireless) i.e. more use and quick charging, then Vivo becomes a better option.
Camera setup
The camera segment comes with the main sensor of Samsung 200MP which includes 10MP telephoto and 12MP ultra-wide lens. At the same time, Vivo has given 50MP sensors in all three camera lenses, wide, ultra-wide and telephoto, which gives better balance in image quality. Talking about the front camera, Vivo has a 20MP selfie camera while Samsung has a 10MP camera.
Price difference
Talking about the price, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z fold 7 in three variants. 12GB+256GB is priced ₹ 1,74,999. 12GB+512GB’s ₹ 1,86,999 and top variant 16GB+1TB is priced ₹ 2,16,999. On the other hand, Vivo X Fold 5 comes in just one variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, which is priced ₹ 1,49,999.
If concluded on the basis of full comparison, both phones are strong in their respective places. While Samsung gives the benefit of long -term software support, better chipset and light design in the future, Vivo comes with more battery, fast charging and better camera balance.
