New Delhi- Sunil Gavaskar says that Jasprit Bumrah will captain Team India after Rohit Sharma. Gavaskar made this prediction after seeing Bumrah’s impressive performance on the recent tour of Australia. Bumrah got a chance to showcase his leadership skills in two Test matches on the Australia tour. Gavaskar is impressed with Bumrah’s leadership skills.
Bumrah took the highest 32 wickets in 5 Test matches on Australia tour. This is the best performance by any foreign fast bowler in Australia. Under Bumrah’s captaincy, the team won the first match of the series played in Perth.
Sunil Gavaskar told ‘Channel 7’, ‘He (Bumrah) can be the next captain of the team.’ He leads the team very responsibly, his image is very good. He has the qualities of a captain and is not someone who puts unnecessary pressure on you. Sometimes you have captains who put a lot of pressure on you. Bumrah seems to expect others to do their job. He should do the job for which he is in the national team but he should not pressure anyone for it.
‘I won’t be surprised if Bumrah becomes captain’
Jasprit Bumrah has been spearheading the Indian fast bowling attack for the past few years. His guidance has helped players like Mohammad Siraj develop as fast bowlers. “He stands at mid-off, mid-on and his presence is beneficial for the fast bowlers,” he said. He is always ready to share his thoughts with the bowlers. I think he was absolutely brilliant and played his role very well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes the captain.
