Sam Altman on AI: Openai CEO Sam Altman has made a big claim about AI. According to Sam Altman, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is constantly developing, which can lead to a decline in demand of software engineers in the coming time. In an interview, he told that AI-based automation is already making a big change in coding process and more than 50% code is now being written by AI in some companies.

Sam Altman said, “I believe that at the moment all software engineers can do a lot of work. But there can be a time when we need fewer engineers.” He also informed that the number of engineers has increased right now but in the long time companies may need less developers. The main reason for this can be ‘agent coding’ which is a technique in which AI will be able to complete the difficult coding tasks.
However, Altman made it clear that this technique has not yet been fully developed. He said, “AI coding in many companies has already crossed the 50% mark but the real change will come when the agent coding will develop completely.”
Openai’s focus on AI-based automation
Apart from software development, Altman also discussed Openai’s business strategy. He clarified that the company is focusing on earning from AI automation instead of add based model. According to him, “I am more interested in recovering a good price from users for services like a great automatic software engineer, instead of earning a little from advertisements.”

Sam Altman believes that students should master AI tools instead of learning special skills of coding. In many companies, AI is already doing coding works in a very good way. Therefore, the most important skill for future success will have the ability to mold yourself with the changing technology. He said, “In the coming times, people should learn to use AI tools efficiently. This statement of Altman indicates that AI will not only make coding easier in the future but will also decide to the extent to which human developers will be needed.
