Hyderabad, December 5
A woman died and her son was hospitalized for suffocation following a stampede and stampede at a movie theater here during the premiere show of actor Allu Arjun’s film “Pushpaa 2: The Rule”.
The incident took place on Wednesday night when a large number of fans thronged the cinema hall to catch a glimpse of the actor, police officials said. The police said that there was no special arrangement or advance notice from the theater management about the arrival of other members of the film including the actors. A huge crowd surged forward and a woman and her son trying to enter the theater were suffocated and unconscious after being pushed by the crowd.
A police official said that the theater was small and the crowd was huge. During the incident, personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the woman and her son and transported them to the hospital, where the woman died and her son is being treated. Police used mild force to control the situation. A case has been registered in connection with the incident. News-Patiala
