Bangladesh BCS Recruitment: Bangladesh is not desisting from persecuting minorities. Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities are pricking like a thorn in the eyes of the Yunus government. The gazette issued by sidelining religious minorities in the 43rd Civil Services (BCS) recruitment highlights the discriminatory policies of the government.
Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council has demanded immediate cancellation of the gazette issued on December 30. The council says that 168 candidates have been excluded in this gazette, of which 71 are from religious minority communities. This has been described as a direct example of religious hatred and discriminatory mentality.
Demand to cancel gazette
The council has issued a statement demanding the Public Administration Advisor of the interim government to immediately cancel the gazette and include all the missing candidates. They say that this decision goes against the expectations of the recent anti-discrimination movement and promotes inequality in the society. This controversy in Bangladesh has raised serious questions on social harmony and democratic values.
Past of persecution of minorities in Bangladesh
After the ouster of Sheikh Hasina’s government, Bangladesh has seen an increase in incidents of violence and discrimination against religious minorities. Attacks and persecution of minority communities have intensified since the end of 2024, deepening social tensions and feelings of inequality in Bangladesh.
In the past few months, several attacks have been carried out against minority Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities. These include attacks on religious places, violence against women, and incidents of demolition of temples and churches. The government’s failure to maintain peace and lack of security has further encouraged these attacks.
This is a time of struggle and fear for minorities, as their lives and property are in danger every day. No concrete steps were taken against these incidents in Bangladesh, due to which the feeling of insecurity has increased in the society.
