BHU PhD Admission 2025: Kashi Hindu University (BHU) has made significant changes in the PhD admission process rules. In view of the protest of the students, now 10 candidates will be called for interview on each seat, while earlier this number was 5. This change is expected to bring more transparency and opportunities in the admission process.
15,400 applications for 1540 seats
According to media reports, in the current academic session, BHU has a total of 1540 PhD seats, for which 15,400 candidates will give interviews. This process is being conducted under 140 main subjects of 16 faculties. Apart from this 124 seats have been notified separately for colleges affiliated to BHU.
Ways to improve the admissions process
The BHU administration has completed all the preparations to conduct the admission process smoothly in the institutes, faculties and affiliated colleges. Preference will be given to JRF scholarship holder
BHU has decided to give priority to candidates who could not get admission despite the expiry of their JRF scholarship. Apart from this, the candidates who have cleared the JRF and received the scholarship in the year 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 will also be able to participate in this process. However, those whose scholarship has expired will not be involved in this process.
Opportunity for JRF category candidates
Candidates from CSIR-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF and ICAR-JRF categories are being admitted to BHU. It may be mentioned that for UGC-JRF, the scholarship is awarded for three years, while for other categories, the scholarship is awarded for two years.
