The first T20I between India and Australia was canceled due to incessant rain. When the match was halted for the second time, India, batting first, were reduced to 97 for one in 9.4 overs after losing the toss. However, persistent rain and a wet outfield at Canberra’s Manuka Oval forced the umpires to call off the match. The next match of the five-match series will now be played in Melbourne on October 31.
Earlier, opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 19 after a good start. When the match was first halted, India’s score was 43 for one after five overs. Surya and Gill then changed gears and started batting strongly. Fours and sixes were hitting below, while rain was falling from the sky above. After the match was stopped a second time, it never resumed.
The explosive batsman Abhishek Sharma was dismissed in the fourth over by Nathan Ellis, who hit four fours in his innings. Earlier, Australia won the toss and invited India to bat first.
Marsh always decides to bowl after winning the toss
Australia have opted to bowl in all 18 T20 Internationals where Mitchell Marsh won the toss. Australia have won the toss in 30 of the 53 men’s T20 Internationals played since September 2022. They have decided to bowl first in all but one match against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2024.
