According to reports, strong winds from Santa Ana helped the fire spread rapidly. Although the wind speed had reduced on Friday night, the Palisades Fire is now moving towards Brentwood and the San Fernando Valley, increasing the danger in new areas.

Governor and US President’s reaction
California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered an independent review of the initial management of the fire. He described the shortage in water supply as “deeply troubling”. US President Joe Biden described the disaster as a “war scene”, where massive destruction was seen.

The National Weather Service has said that the wind speed may slow down by the end of the week, which will provide some relief to the situation. However, Cal Fire has warned that severe fire weather conditions will persist into next week and strong winds are possible again.
