He breathed his last at the age of 74. He was struggling with throat cancer for the last several years. He was undergoing treatment in PGI Chandigarh. Charanjit Ahuja is left behind by wife Sangeeta Ahuja and three sons, who are all associated with music industry. His son Sachin Ahuja is a famous Punjabi music producer.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed condolences by posting on social media platform X about the death of Charanjit Ahuja. He wrote, ‘Music Emperor Ustad Charanjeet Ahuja Saheb’s departure is an irreparable loss for the music industry. The tunes created by Ahuja Saheb will always rule the hearts of Punjabis.
