According to tech reports, Apple’s next device will be a 7-inch smart home display that will act as a central hub to control smart devices in the home. It will also have the facility of FaceTime and the support of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will make it smarter.
Earlier this device was expected to be launched within 2025 but now it has been postponed to 2026. This new smart display will give direct competition to devices like Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub.
Due to changing geopolitical tensions, Apple no longer wants to depend on China or India for its new products. According to the report, the company has now decided to increase its manufacturing capacity in Vietnam.
Apple already makes many of its devices in Vietnam but this will be the first time that a whole new product line will be launched from here. With this step, the company wants to make its supply chain more stable and balanced so that any global disruption does not affect its production.
Interestingly, Apple is getting the support of Chinese tech company BYD in this new project in Vietnam. BYD will be responsible for the assembly, testing and packaging of the new smart display there. The two countries in which Apple has invested the most outside China in recent years are India and Vietnam and now Vietnam is emerging as a new strategic hub for the company.
