He entered Bollywood as a singer. He also sang with many big singers including Lata Mangeshkar. But seeing her beauty, she started being offered films.

Sulakshana Pandit did her first film with Sanjeev Kumar and fell in love with him. Sulakshana made her Bollywood debut in the year 1975 with the film ‘Uljhan’. In this film he worked with Sanjeev Kumar. She fell in love with Sanjeev Kumar on the sets of this film. But Sanjeev was in love with Hema Malini. He proposed to Hema Malini, but Hema rejected Sanjeev’s proposal.
