Farhad Mehrad was a rare musician. (Photo courtesy: imDB)Farhad Mehrad was born on 20 January 1944 in Tehran, the capital of Iran. His father was a diplomat and often lived abroad. Farhad’s childhood was spent in a disciplined environment, but his soul always pulled towards freedom and art. When he was only three years old, he used to sit outside his brother’s room. Brother’s violin class used to run and he used to listen to him. Seeing this interest, his family bought a violin for him. But after a few classes, his violin broke, due to which he was very hurt. He said, ‘Violin became pieces and also of my soul.’ He never touched the violin again. However, his inclination towards music never diminished.
There was deep interest in literature
During school days, Farhad Mehrad also started connecting deeply with literature. He expressed his desire to study literature in high school, but due to family pressure he had to study science. Gradually, this suffocation increased so much that he left school in class 11. After this, his life slowly started turning to music. After leaving the high school, Farhad met an Armenian band ‘The Four Elphs’. He started spending time with the band members and learned to play the guitar. Once the band’s singer did not come, Farhad got a chance to sing for the first time and it was from here that his real identity started. All of his singing became dead. He used to sing in English, Italian and French as if these languages were their own.
