Anita Anand, an expert in business and finance law, was tenured law professor at the University of Toronto. Before entering politics, he worked as a visiting lecturer at Yale University in the US before becoming the MP from Oakville, Ontario in 2019.
Talking about herself, she said, during my first election campaign, many people told me that a woman of Indian origin cannot be elected from Oakville, Ontario. Yet, Oakville stood by me and supported me twice since 2019, an honor I will always cherish in my heart.
His father, S.V. Anand, Tamil Nadu freedom fighter V.A. He was the son of Sundaram. His mother, Saroj Ram, was from Punjab and both were doctors, who decided to immigrate to Canada. Joining the Trudeau cabinet as Minister of Public Services in 2019, she ensured Canada had adequate medical equipment and vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
